April-June 2017 Officer of the Quarter
Officer Todd Fibich
When selecting someone for this honor one must look at the work product and character of that Officer. Officer Fibich has gone above what is called and expected from him. Officer Fibich begins every shift arriving early for work every night ready and willing to jump calls that might be in holding for day shift officers. By doing this he is not only saving the department money in Overtime but most importantly to other officers is allowing that officer to go home on time to be with his or her family. No one has asked him to do this but has taken it upon himself to be a motivated and dedicated to his job.
Officer Fibich is a tireless worker with a self-motivation that is not seen from an Officer with his age and experience. Officer Fibich is always willing to assist another officer on calls and is never asked to go back someone on a call because he is usually already in route. In addition to work that Officer Fibich does he also commits himself to a higher calling. Officer Fibich set out to raise money for childhood cancer research. This was done through the St Baldrick's foundation. On March 4th, 2017 Officer Fibich shaved his head for this great cause and in doing so raised $2,715 (#1 out of 46 that was involved).
While on patrol Officer Fibich responded to a Burglary of a Vehicle call at Jimmy Changas. A family recently bought over $3000 in camping equipment for a mission trip they were preparing for. While eating at the restaurant thieves broke out the rear window of their car and stole over half of their equipment. Officer Fibich took his time and wrote out a detailed report of all the items missing. Officer Fibich took a step further in helping them out.
He advised the family to drove to the police station. Once their Officer Fibich vacuumed up the glass debris and then assisted them with taping up the window to drive safely back on the road. Before leaving Officer Fibich joined them in a group prayer. Based on his actions the family took to Facebook and acknowledged Officer Fibich’s actions. Chief Kramm was notified and sent out an email thanking Officer Fibich for a job well done.
Officer Fibich is a dedicated employee that involves himself with causes greater than himself. Officer Fibich commitment to the Mission Statement has reflected great credit upon himself and the League City Police Department and that’s why he is being nominated for Officer of the Quarter.
